Leadership Statement on Financial Stewardship and Generosity FAQ's
Why should I give?
God is our Creator and our Redeemer who not only owns all, but has given us all we have as stewards or “money managers.” He has commanded us to give and be generous (Lev. 27:30; 2 Cor 8-9). Giving is a response in gratitude for what God has done for us and is a matter of obedience.
What should I give?
The Old Testament believers gave a tithe for the priests (Lev. 27:30), a tithe for their festivals (Deut. 12:17-19), and around 3% annually for the poor (Deut. 14:28-29) on top of free will offerings for building (Exodus 25:2). While the law has been fulfilled in Christ, generosity through a tithe or giving of first fruits preceded Moses (Gen 4, 14). Therefore, it seems reasonable that in the new and better covenant in Christ, we would at least have a tithe of gross income as a benchmark or starting place for giving.
To whom should I give?
One of the annual tithes was given specifically to the tabernacle or temple for the spiritual work of the Levites (Lev. 27:30). Since the local church is the primary place the Lord blesses and grows us spiritually, we practice that this should come to CCC on gross income (first fruits). By supporting our church, funding is not only given to the staff but to many different missions efforts as well. Individuals should also give above and beyond a tithe to our building fund, deacon fund, and to many other missionaries and Christian organizations. Prayerfully consider giving 10% to the church.
Where can I receive help?
All officers at CCC are willing to confidentially discuss how to think about Christian generosity, but the deacons are especially called to this work of expanding our generosity. Starting a conversation in your family about money and generosity is key.
What is the current practice of CCC officers?
The officers at CCC encourage each other to use the tithe as the benchmark or starting place for how to give.

Why we give.
God is generous and so he calls us to be as well. What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are at and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our finances.
